WLAN Site Survey Training

What is a WLAN?
A Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) implements a flexible data communication system frequently augmenting rather than replacing a wired LAN within a building or campus. WLANs use radio frequency to transmit and receive data over the air, minimizing the need for wired connections.
Why do you need a Wireless Site Survey?
A radio frequency (RF) site survey is the first step in the deployment of a Wireless network and the most important step to ensure desired operation. A site survey is a task-by-task process by which the surveyor studies the facility to understand the RF behavior, discovers RF coverage areas, checks for RF interference and determines the appropriate placement of Wireless devices.
A proper site survey provides detailed information that addresses coverage, interference sources, equipment placement, power considerations and wiring requirements. The site survey documentation serves as a guide for network design and for the installation and verification of the Wireless communication infrastructure. A professional installer is needed for optimal results.
What Cisco training is available?
The Cisco Wireless Networking Site Survey (CWNSS) course is designed to give you a firm understanding of how to conduct a site survey and explores WLAN radio technologies, design strategies, Cisco WCS planning tool, Cognio Spectrum Expert as well as AirMagnet Survey Pro.
Hands-on labs provide you with the experience of performing site analyses for RF interference and performing a site survey for voice and data.
The Aironet Wireless LAN Fundamentals & Site Survey (AWFSS) course is aimed at technical sales staff and engineers who will be designing, selling and installing enterprise-class wireless LANs, such as in-building wireless LANs and building-to-building wireless bridges. It covers topologies, configuration, and troubleshooting, as well as security and management issues.
The Cisco Unified Wireless Location-Based Services (CWLBS) course provides an in-depth understanding of the Location Appliance and its use to implement Location Based Services. This course focuses on key system components, including terminology, features, architecture and protocol functionality.
