CCNP Gets a MakeOver

Cisco's Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) has received a major overhaul to make it align to Cisco's strategy now and in the future.

The CCNP certification is made up of 4 courses: the BSCI and BCMSN courses have been revised and 2 new courses have been introduced - ISCW and OMT will replace the BCRAN and CIT courses which reach end of life on October 15, 2006.

"The knowledge and skills required for IT professionals to design and operate a network environment have changed significantly over the past five years," said Don Field, director of certifications at Cisco. "The CCNP update is consistent with the growing demand from our customers, channel partners and the industry for highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals to integrate advanced technology functionality into networks."

The new courses are designed to better support end-to-end IP infrastructure and advanced technologies. Router and Switch Security, QoS and High Availability, Wireless LANs and VoIP have been integrated into the CCNP curriculum.
